What our client needed

As part of a wider NPIA funded stakeholder engagement and benefits realisation package Bedfordshire Police wanted to survey all their BlackBerry users. Our client needed to test and implement a BlackBerry based survey application (developed by Airpoint Ltd), pilot then run a full survey, whilst achieving a high return from the surveyed population, all within a very limited time frame.

What we did

Having supported the development and testing of the survey application, we piloted a survey questionnaire (designed to be completed in approximately 5 minutes by officers). The questionnaire explored system usage behaviour, system design issues, benefits attainment and training/support issues. We employed a variety of mechanisms to maximise return rates in the limited time frame. We analysed the data and reported on the findings within a couple of working days of the survey end date.

What the benefits were

The survey illustrated that a high percentage of respondents thought many of the objectives of the BlackBerry Project were being achieved. It also highlighted a number of key issues that were impacting on usage, which the project team were then able to take in hand.

This returned data provided content for the NPIA’s Report on Bedfordshire Police Mobile Data Business Benefits; of the six NPIA mobile data trial forces, Bedfordshire were the first to submit their benefits report.
