Process reviews
“…an objective measurement of existing and new processes”
What process reviews can offer you
Process review is ideal for gathering baseline measurements and analysing how organisational processes can be streamlined and developed with the introduction of new technology.
In the mobile computing domain, system requirements are often significantly different to desktop. Identifying and mobilising the most relevant information and processes needed for mobile working will save you money, time and many hours of frustration; you will also make a giant step towards having satisfied users.
What we do
We focus on understanding work processes in context, and may supplement our methods with contextual interviews and work shadowing to fully understand actual work process and the potential for new systems.
A typical process review will involve scrutinising work process with approximately 5 members of staff, individually or in pairs. We would look at what systems they use, how usable these systems are, where shortcuts are taken, how long the process takes, who is involved, and any other aspects that support the process.
We align our work with any project methodology utilised by organisations (such as Prince 2 and MSP) in order to generate workable initiatives and recommendations.
Some of the process reviews we’ve done
Sussex Police – development of a hand-held briefing system. We attended briefings at several locations, interviewed officers from different roles, and developed a prototype of the system.
Bedfordshire Police – deploying their ‘Missing Persons’ system to BlackBerry. We worked through the ‘Missing Persons’ process with a number of officers and reviewed the existing system to identify mobile information requirements.
