Scoping studies
“…what is everyone else up to?”
What do scoping studies offer you?
A scoping study provides an overview of the key information relating to specific aspects of your project. The information collected will allow you to make informed decisions about strategic and operational issues through:
- Identifying best practice examples from a variety of sources
- Saving you having to reinvent the wheel and allowing you to benefit from other peoples experience and knowledge
- Providing a source of new ideas that can embellish your planning
What we do
We utilise our research backgrounds and knowledge of the technology domain to perform a scoping studies. We gather and summarise the information relating to a specific subject and present it in an easy-to-read report. We generally perform literature reviews, web searches and organisational surveys to compile scoping study information.
Some of the scoping we’ve done
Gloucestershire County Council – reviewed the published theory and practice examples of the adoption of electronic systems in the public sector. The information was used to develop a framework for assessing social care staff attitudes and support needs when moving to a new electronic case recording process.
Bedfordshire Police – nationwide review of police mobile computing systems. We conducted an email survey of police forces and conducted face-to-face interviews with project managers to summarise the ’state of play’, so that Beds Police could plan their mobile project effectively.
