Group work
“…bringing people together to discuss & learn”
What group work can offer you
Group work is a cost effective means for exploring and supporting different aspects of organisational growth, learning and change. Groups are excellent for generating discussion and exchanging ideas with a range of stakeholders. The benefits include:
- Empowering stakeholders to take ownership of the project and drive it forwards
- Exploring emergent and novel uses of new technology, to improve benefits realisation
- Energising stakeholders and providing thinking space
- Reassuring individuals that their situation/response is not unique
What we do
We facilitate and manage the interactions that are generated between group members and document the outcomes. Some of the group work sessions we have run include:
- Super user & Champion workshops
- Supervisor engagement workshops and seminars
- Project planning workshops
- User requirement definition focus groups
- Device selection workshops
- Work practice review focus groups
Examples of the group sessions we’ve facilitated for organisations
Bedfordshire Police – champions development workshops: to bring together a group of front-line officers and develop a role and basis for site champions to support and expand the use of BlackBerrys by front-line colleagues.
Derbyshire Police – requirements definition focus groups: to collect information from front-line police officers on the types of devices and applications that would be most suitable for specific job roles and locations.
East Sussex County Council – front-line managers’ workshop: to engage managers in the work practice transformation process that was occurring in conjunction with the implementation of electronic case recording.
Derbyshire Social Services – senior managers workshop: to consolidate the organisational vision for the new electronic system and related work practices and to engage all senior stakeholders in the change process.
